a new start, generosity + a giveaway

I witnessed something amazing this last week. Something that I never asked for or knowingly encouraged. A generosity from the Mama Scout tribe that blew me away and made me realize that I completely underestimated the power WE have (I thought I knew, but I had no idea).

As registrations for Dream Lab were heating up, a few women offered to host giveaways and pay for other women to join the lab. I was so moved by the support and giving of these women. But, apparently I was not the only one.

As the week progressed, I started getting emails and messages from other women who wanted to pay for dream sisters who were not able to afford the lab this year. One after another they came in. They asked specifically to sponsor women who they had come to know online over the last few years. They gifted women who had shared their brave dreams, their BIG leaps of faith and kind support to others. And they all wanted to remain anonymous.

So, I spent time contacting unsuspecting women saying something like, "guess what? you were gifted a spot in Dream Lab by an anonymous woman. Someone who knows the lab will be better because YOU and your voice are in it."

Each recipient was shocked and asked me to pass on to their patron messages of gratefulness and promises to pay it forward. And for many of them, this gift came at just the right time. They might have been struggling with something heavy or feeling world weary.

An act of kindness turns around negativity, yes. But it also enlivens the spirit and encourages the recipient to offer the world something generous. It is exponential and contagious and good. Seeing how this generosity spread like a fire through our group makes me ever determined to figure out how to start sparks of goodness and harness that energy. And to fully stand in the power and support others who seek to do the same.

And on that high note, I am offering a giveaway for a spot in BOTH Dream Lab and Feathering the Nest. Feathering the Nest is one of my favorite online classes (I have done it several times).

Stephanie Perkinson and Leah Kent help participants explore the energy of their space, spruce up with simple makes, and create a home that is a reflection of their values and passions.

It is the perfect companion class to Dream Lab. They work well together and would not compete or overwhelm each other.

To enter this giveaway just leave a comment below telling me what you are dreaming about right now. Make sure that I am able to contact you, which I will do Sunday morning! Good luck!

  10. I'm dreaming of climbing mountains with my boys, all of us with backpacks on our backs caring everything we need. My boys are six and seven right now so that time is close. Dreaming about the adventures we will be capable of soon helps me through my nostalgia of this time that's passed for us, of them being babies and them needing me and us all being home not minding the clock. Even though now they're older and more independent and in school full-time, I know that we can find that timeless space in the woods and in the mountains.

  18. I'm dreaming of a career change. I believe I'm shifting from contemplation to action - yesterday I had one of those defining, eye opening moments that I can either bury deep down and avoid, or use as impetus for change. I'm dreaming of being an advocate, fostering creativity and problem solving, and having a stronger voice.

  21. Reading the description of Feathering the Nest makes my mouth water because as many of my folks know following the hubs to a hobby farm near his folks left an ache in my heart and a hole in the wallet. Not only would participating in DreamLab again be AMAZING, but adding this new piece to my learning could give me new insight into how the place around me could help support both my dreams and my sanity. So, what am I dreaming about right now? Short term: Finishing this batch of gumbo and eating it with the fam while asking What If? questions at the table. Long term: Staying healthy, becoming a teacher leader, and loving my students where they are but pushing them to be the best they can be.

  31. I was so excited when the news came about the new Dream Lab, I loved it so very much last time, but was also in such a different space at that time. I am yearning to take it again, but can not stretch the funds this year.
I am dreaming of the new iteration of Sarah, the one beyond mother of small children, the one who finds her fire and passion, and who now has a stable foundation on which to build. Settling down from the nomadic life opens up a whole new world of opportunity.

  33. I dream of a day when my financial burdens are gone and I can be free to make a better space for my daughter and my dogs. I dream of a day when I can take vacations! I dream of a day when the "beat yourself up" voices in my head turn to "yay you!!" I dream of the day when I can stop pretending to be happy all the time. I think Dream Lab can probably help with a little bit of that

  39. With possible new jobs and locations up in the air for us right now, I am in deep dreaming of a new home, a home to own, to make truly our own, with the gardens and chickens and a dog and wall colors and all the things we haven't really been able to do in the last 7 years in a city rental. A smaller town feels a little scary (ok a lot) but I'm dreaming of all the positive aspects right now.
